String Face Lift: What To Expect

When you groan every time you look into the mirror, you know that it’s time for a face lift.  If you are put off by the prospect of going through surgery, you are in good company.  You’ll be happy to learn that there is a simple, uncomplicated, and very popular way for you to appear young in no time.    A string face lift is a relatively straightforward procedure where, as the name indicates, strings are inserted under key locations on your face, lifting the areas that sag with age.  Although this is not a major procedure, be aware that you will need time to recover afterward.  Like any medical procedure, this is not risk free, so make sure that your surgeon is experienced and competent to do this specific kind of procedure, and will work with you to get the results that you want.

The actual procedure of sting face lifts takes around an hour, give or take some depending on the amount of strings used in the lift.  Generally, between two and twenty strings are used, depending on the amount of corrections being made.  These tiny strings are placed into small sutures on your face, and they reposition your skin to make you look more youthful.

After insuring that your surgeon is highly competent and confident, one key factor to a successful face lift is open communication and mutual understanding between you and the surgeon.  Make sure that you clearly explain where you want the changes to take place, and that he agrees that they will be effective there, and that the skin is thick enough in those areas to conceal the strings.  One possible result of the procedure is that an infection may develop on the site of the sutures.  This can be treated by a simple dose of antibiotics; some surgeons even prescribe medication as standard protocol, to be proactive against potential infection.  Occasionally, it does happen that the string facelift makes little or no difference, but this is a risk you will have to take, as there is obviously no way of predicting this.

Bear in mind that although the actual procedure may be short, you’ll need to make sure to give yourself time to fully recover.  Jumping back into things too quickly will backfire, and the recovery period will take longer.  Give yourself a full week before returning to work, and at least three weeks to be completely back to your old self in all areas, except for your appearance of course.  You may feel a bit out of things for a day or two after the procedure, and may feel pain.  Keep Tylenol handy for times like this- taking ibuprofen is not advised after this procedure.

Make sure to take good care of yourself while you recover, and don’t eat foods that require hard chewing.  Sleeping with your head elevated will also be helpful.  After this string face lift, you will no longer have to sigh every time you look into the mirror, and you will enjoy the youthful spirit that you’ll feel just by looking young.
